Custom Travel Wallet for I.D. Look

I.D. Look is one of the largest retail brands in Japan and Korea.  This past month we had the opportunity collaborate with them on a custom design of our Travel Wallets.  Our Travel Wallets are made from domestic veg tanned leather in black and natural, and are hand molded to fit all your necessary documents for travel. These wallets feature a custom brass foil polka-dot stamp on one side of the wallet.

Golf Tool Kit

We were presented with the opportunity to design a custom golf tool kit for the 2014 Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational. The Invitational was founded in 2001 it has raised almost $7 million for charitable organizations. Some of this years beneficiaries include the Make a Wish Foundation, The James R. Jordan Foundation, Cats Care and Keep Memory Alive and Opportunity Village.

This was our first experience designing a golf accessory and we are happy with how it developed. The golf kit is handmade from vegetable tanned leather and holds 3 tees, a ball marker and a divot tool. We were thrilled to be apart of the event.

Walnut Aurora Lamp

Each Walnut Aurora Lamp is handcrafted from Eastern Black Walnut, hailing from Mid-Eastern United States.  The grain of the Walnut varies from lamp to lamp, creating unique and beautiful patterns. Walnut is one of North America’s finest hardwoods.  It is know for its dark, smooth, and satiny surface.  We chose to use Eastern Walnut over Western Walnut because of the way in which it is kiln dried, making it much easier to work with and turn on a lathe.  Eastern Walnut also tends to be darker in color, ranging from a medium brown to a dark chocolaty brown.  Each of our Aurora Lamps are hand turned in Aurora Oregon by master wood turners.  Aurora Oregon is a small town about 25 miles south of Portland with a rich history of craftsmanship and woodwork.  For more information on the Aurora Lamp process, watch our video here.

Limited Edition Varsity Jacket

The Limited Edition Varsity Jacket originated from our desire to rethink an american classic, the varsity jacket. We used a newer slim cut silloutte and Sugar Skull pattern from a collection we did with Beams in Japan. In doing so we created our first piece of apparel. We collaborated with Settlemiers, a family owned varsity jacket manufacturer in Portland, OR to craft our jacket. The Varsity Jacket has two external pockets, one internal pocket, all wool trim, leather pocket details and snap closer buttons. The jacket is designed in the traditional raglan style and features Pendleton wool in a bright Sugar Skull pattern for warmth. It is lined with soft merino Pendleton wool for comfort. Available in limited quantities.

Each bag is made from organic cotton canvas, natural vegetable tanned leather, and hand dyed using a non-toxic dye. Available in limited quantities.

Experiments With Color

We are constantly prototyping with new materials, new forms and new processes at our studio in Portland. In our latest experiment we collaborated with local designer Eric Trine. We asked him to experiment with color on one of our forthcoming Spring products, The Everyday bag. These are the results from our first attempt with Indigo dye.

The non-toxic dye used for this project was made from indigo, sugar, lime and fructose. The original dye recipe was developed by Kyla Mucci.

The Tokyo Briefcase originated from a conversation with Carl, a friend and talented industrial designer (as well as a proud owner of a Tokyo Bag). The design is a derivative of our classic Tokyo Bag. This prototype was crafted in our Portland design studio from domestic waxed canvas and vegetable tanned leather and one industrial metal zipper.
